Keystone Space / EMTG Community Edition
Great mission design tools should reach more of the people with ideas for where we go next.
We’re building on NASA’s Evolutionary Mission Trajectory Generator to bring mission design to more researchers, engineers, and developers—with simpler setup, open-source solver access, and new ways to connect it to your work.
Carry the work forward
NASA’s Evolutionary Mission Trajectory Generator helps design and optimize the paths spacecraft take through space. Community Edition carries that work forward, making it easier for more people to explore mission ideas and build on the software.
At Keystone Intelligence, we’re bringing together open-source solver access, simpler builds, and Python interfaces for analysis and automation. It’s a foundation for new tools and AI-assisted workflows—and an invitation to help shape them.
Explore a mission concept, revisit an existing study, or share a challenge you’d like EMTG to help solve.
Connect mission results to the tools you already use. Create new ways to analyze, compare, and work with trajectories.
Share a test case, improve a build, or contribute a fix. Your experience can make the next person’s path easier.
Contribute to the project ↗What Community Edition brings
| Area | NASA EMTG | Community Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Start with an open-source solver | SNOPT-centered setup; a separate solver license is required. | Use IPOPT out of the box, with no commercial solver license needed. Keep SNOPT as an option for licensed workflows. Explore the details ↗ |
| Get from source to software | Version-specific PDF build guides and manually assembled dependencies. | Build scripts bring dependencies and packaging together, reducing the setup work you need to do yourself. Explore the details ↗ |
| Connect your workflow | Native mission outputs and the PyEMTG tooling supplied with the NASA release. | Bring mission results into Python and connect EMTG to your own analysis tools and automation. Explore the details ↗ |
| Build confidence together | Source release includes the testatron test tooling. | Added automated checks help catch regressions as the project evolves. Community test cases can extend that coverage. Explore the details ↗ |

Built together
We’re working toward a simpler EMTG experience across Windows, Linux, and macOS. Help us get there by trying builds on your platform and sharing what works—and what could work better.
Have a mission you know well? Work with us to validate results, expand our test cases, and improve the tool over time. Every shared insight helps build a stronger foundation for the community.
